Cleaning up start menu

One of several ways to get rid of all those programs that start by themselves when you boot.

Click on Start
Run
type in msconfig
Go
Click on the Startup tab
You can safely turn off everything here. The only thing I leave selected is my virus detector, and firewall. If you look close enough at the descriptions you can pretty much figure out what it's referencing.
Apply
Ok

If you want to reboot go ahead, otherwise say No, and the changes will occur the next time you boot.
